To our knowledge, Hegren Pilates is the only reformer manufacturer in the world that builds its Pilates reformers with a full steel frame. While almost all premium competitors – Balanced Body, STOTT/Merrithew, BASI, Elina, Peak – rely on aluminum rails or wooden frames, the Greek family business in Athens welds every reformer from steel, electrostatically coats it, and combines it with birch wood, A-grade automotive synthetic leather, and a patented rope system. The result: maximum stability, a load limit of 150 kg, no warping, no micro-movement in the frame – and a 10-year factory warranty on all metal parts.
Kraftathlet is an authorized dealer of Hegren Pilates for Germany and Switzerland – and the exclusive distribution partner for Austria. You get direct factory access, full manufacturer's warranty, personal advice, and freight forwarding with appointment scheduling. Hotline: +49 800 000 8929.
What makes Hegren Pilates unique?
The difference lies in the frame. According to our market research, Hegren is the only Pilates reformer manufacturer that serially produces a full steel frame. With most other brands, steel only appears selectively – for example, as a footbar (Balanced Body Allegro 2), as a fitting, or as a spring. The load-bearing frame is almost always made of anodized aluminum or solid wood.
Full steel specifically means:
-
No noticeable micro-movement when transitioning from a plank, during jumpboard training, or during dynamic Lagree-style sequences.
-
Loadable up to 150 kg user weight – without restricting the factory warranty.
-
No warping, no swelling, no corrosion: The electrostatic powder coating seals the steel even in rooms with high humidity – relevant for physical therapy, wellness, and spa environments.
-
Hygienically smooth surfaces that are disinfectant-resistant – relevant for studios with multiple users.
-
10-year warranty on the metal frame, 2 years on carriage wheels and wooden surfaces, 1 year on consumables such as upholstery, springs, ropes, and straps.
The downside: A Hegren reformer weighs 92 kg – significantly more than an aluminum model. It is not foldable. You are buying a reformer for studio permanence, not an apartment folding device.
40 years of Greek craftsmanship
Hegren Fitness has its roots in DYNAMIC HELLAS, a Greek fitness equipment manufacturer that has been producing in Athens for over 40 years. For about a decade, the family business has focused exclusively on premium Pilates equipment – always at the same location: Leoforos Irinis 61, Tavros, Attica, Greece.
Every reformer is created in their own factory. The steel parts are welded and electrostatically coated on-site, the birch wood elements are CNC-milled, the upholstery is made of high-density multi-layer foam and double-stitched by hand with A-grade automotive synthetic leather. Certain mechanisms – including the patented S-Type Rope Arms and the footstrap system – are Hegren's own developments.
The brand ambassador is Dr. Mandy Persaki, a certified Pilates instructor with a doctorate and, according to her, the only Pilates expert with a doctoral degree (research focus: effects of the Pilates method on cardiorespiratory function). She supports product development and training material.
The Talma 62 – the flagship
The Talma 62 is the flagship of Hegren Pilates and the reformer chosen by almost all Hegren studios worldwide. It is designed as a reference for studio use – without home equipment compromises.

Frequently asked questions about Hegren Pilates
What warranty does Hegren offer on the Talma 62?
10-year factory warranty on all metal parts (steel frame, mechanisms), 2 years on carriage wheels and wooden surfaces, 1 year on consumables such as upholstery, springs, ropes, and straps. Kraftathlet, as an authorized dealer, handles warranty cases directly with the Greek manufacturer.
How long does delivery from Greece take?
The Talma 62 is factory-sealed in Athens and delivered by freight forwarder with appointment scheduling to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Regular delivery time: [INFORMATION REQUIRED – please confirm with manufacturer]. For a binding date: +49 800 000 8929.
How heavy is the Hegren Talma 62 and what is its load capacity?
The Talma 62 weighs 92 kg and is approved for a maximum user weight of 150 kg. The full steel construction is the reason for both: higher stability and higher load capacity than comparable aluminum or wood reformers.
Why does a Hegren reformer cost more than a standard aluminum model?
Three reasons: steel is significantly more expensive to process and transport than aluminum. Each reformer is manufactured in Greece – not in Asian OEM mass production – including hand-stitched upholstery and manual final assembly. The 10-year metal warranty also applies to intensive professional studio use – a level that many competitors do not offer for commercial use. Over a typical studio lifespan of 10–15 years, the extra cost pays for itself.
Where is Hegren Pilates manufactured?
Completely in Tavros, Attica (Greece) – in the own factory of Hegren Fitness, a family business with over 40 years of experience in professional fitness equipment manufacturing. Designed and Made in Greece. CE-certified.
How does Hegren differ from Balanced Body, STOTT, or Elina Pilates?
The central distinguishing feature is the frame material: Balanced Body Allegro 2 and Merrithew SPX are built on anodized aluminum, Elina Pilates on rock maple wood with stainless steel fittings, Gratz on solid wood. To our knowledge, Hegren is the only manufacturer with a full steel frame. Functionally, the Talma 62 offers a comparable feature level with patented S-Type Rope Arms (6 positions, 360° heads), 6-angle footbar, and 5-position headrest – combined with the highest material stiffness on the market.
