Is this tatami IJF-approved?
No. The manufacturer explicitly assigns the IJF label and EN 12503-3 certification only to the rice straw version with anti-slip properties. For competition surfaces, you should therefore choose the non-slip version.
Why a smooth underside?
The smooth version is intended for permanently installed surfaces that are secured with edge strips or a mat recess. When laid directly on a smooth gym floor, it lacks slip resistance.
How much does a record weigh?
A 2 × 1 m slab that is 4 cm thick weighs 19 kg. You should work in pairs to move it.
How many plates do I need?
