Is this tatami IJF-approved?
No. In its own instructions, the manufacturer explicitly states that the IJF label and EN 12503-3 apply only to the rice straw version with anti-slip properties. For competition surfaces, you should therefore choose the non-slip version.
Why a smooth underside?
The smooth version is intended for permanently installed surfaces that are secured with edge strips or a mat recess. When laid directly on a smooth gym floor, it lacks slip resistance.
How many plates do I need?
Each tile covers 1 m²; the minimum order quantity is ten tiles. For a 6 × 6 m area, you'll need 36 tiles.
Which density should I choose?
The standard density is 230 kg/m³. For children's training, the manufacturer offers the "Junior" model with a density of 200 to 210 kg/m³, and for competition surfaces, the "Olympic" model with a density of 270 to 280 kg/m³—both available upon request.
